We built Truffle Hound for ourselves first
Why a lead tool we built for our own outreach is now open to a small group of early users.
Truffle Hound didn't start as a product. It started as a fix for our own problem.
We needed more leads. Not more names, more of the right people. Every tool we tried gave us the same thing: a big list, most of it wrong. People who'd left the company. People in the wrong role. Companies that were never going to buy.
So we spent our evenings doing it by hand. Searching LinkedIn, opening profiles, checking each company, writing a message, keeping track in a spreadsheet. It worked, but it ate the week.
So we built a hound
We built a tool to do the dull parts for us. You describe who you want to reach in one sentence. It searches LinkedIn, checks each company and each person, scores them out of 100 with the reasons, and drafts the messages. Then you press send, from your own account, one at a time.
That last part matters to us. We didn't want a bot sending hundreds of messages on autopilot. We wanted to send fewer, better messages to people who actually fit.
Then people asked for it
We used it every day. When we told friends and other founders what we were using, the same question kept coming back: can I use it too?
So we're opening it up, slowly. A small group of early users is trying it now, and we're shaping it around what they tell us.
What it's good at
- Finding specific companies and the decision makers inside them.
- Finding specific people by role, location, company or what's in their LinkedIn headline.
- Telling you why each lead fits, not just that it does.
What it isn't built for: broad networking or vague searches. The more specific you are, the better it works.
